Cellosaurus MT58 (CVCL_0442)

[Text version]
Cell line name MT58
Synonyms MT-58; CHO-MT58; CHO MT58; Mutant 58; Strain 58; CHO strain 58; CHO-58
Accession CVCL_0442
Resource Identification Initiative To cite this cell line use: MT58 (RRID:CVCL_0442)
Comments Characteristics: Displays a thermo-sensitive phenotype. At a permissive temperature (33 Celsius), the cells grow at a rate of about 80% of the parental line while maintaining 80-90% phosphatidylcholine levels. At a non-permissive temperature (40 Celsius), the endogenous Pcyt1a/CCT activity decreases dramatically, blocking membrane synthesis and ultimately leading to apoptosis.
Transformant: ChEBI; CHEBI:23994; Ethyl methanesulfonate (Methylsulfonic acid ethyl ester; MSEE).
Derived from site: In situ; Ovary; UBERON=UBERON_0000992.
Cell type: Epithelial cell of ovary; CL=CL_2000064.
