| Abstract |
The research undertaken on the diagnosis and monitoring of melanoma tumors
using radiopharmaceuticals has yielded numerous personal results.
Following the use of spontaneous or chemically induced hamster cutaneous
melanoma as models for the study of new tracers, our interest turned to
the culture of choroidal melanomas, which had been little practiced until
then. Currently, we have five established cell lines from about ten tumors
cultured since 1977, using a monolayer growth technique from explants. The
conditions are similar to those used for about ten years at the Gustave-
Roussy Institute in Villejuif for cutaneous melanomas. Among the various
control methods, we supplement the systematic study of the proliferative
nature of the cell lines (monthly frequency of subcultures, growth curves)
with morphological examinations to ensure the differentiation of the cell
type.
