| Abstract |
Techniques for the isolation of field strains of rabies virus in cell
culture are now well developed and are widely used for the diagnosis of
rabies. In many laboratories, the rabies tissue-culture infection test
(RTCIT) has replaced the mouse inoculation test (MIT). The RTCIT is
relatively easy to perform, is much less expensive than the MIT and, most
important, can substantially reduce the time required for obtaining
results.
