When expressed, the probe it is separated into EGFP-LC3 and mRFP-LC3deltaG by the action of endogenous ATG4 family proteases that cleave the peptide bond after the C-terminal glycine of LC3 in the cytosol producing equimolar amounts of EGFP-LC3 and mRFP-LC3deltaG.
