CC Characteristics: Used in a transcriptional bioassay for lactogens. Upon binding a lactogen to PRLR a complex is generated that activates JAK2 which in turn activates STAT5 which results in transcriptional activation of the luciferase reporter gene. Thus, the luciferase activity reflects receptor activation by the exogenous PRLR ligand (PubMed=12668884).
CC Characteristics: Transfected with two constructs, one containing PRLR under the control of a CMV promoter and the other a firefly luciferase reporter gene under the control of the HSV-TK promoter containing a six-repeat lactogenic hormone response element (LHRE) (PubMed=12668884).
