CC Virology: Maintains latent rKSHV.219 as indicated by expression of constitutively expressed (eGFP) but not a lytic phase (RFP) reporter gene. When exposed to either sodium butyrate or doxycycline, the cells are activated to lytic replication and express RFP and KSHV lytic genes and release large quantities of infectious virus (PubMed=21419799).
