As the fusion of the autophagosomes with the lysosomes progresses, the GFP fluorescence diminishes, leaving only the RFP fluorescence visible. The percentages of RFP-GFP positive and of RFP positive cells can be determined and these values can be used to assess autophagic flux (InvivoGen=heldf-hlc3).
