Cellosaurus NZel-1 (CVCL_C8BG)

[Text version]
Cell line name NZel-1
Accession CVCL_C8BG
Resource Identification Initiative To cite this cell line use: NZel-1 (RRID:CVCL_C8BG)
Comments Characteristics: Defective in alkyldihydroxyacetone phosphate (DHAP) synthase (PubMed=9114014).
Characteristics: Selected using the 9-(1'-pyrene)nonanol/ultraviolet (P9OH/UV) method. P9OH acts as a photosensitizer. Normal cells which can incorporate the fluorescent fatty alcohol into lipids are killed by UV, but mutants who incorporate P9OH poorly are less susceptible to photosensitized killing.
Transformant: ChEBI; CHEBI:23994; Ethyl methanesulfonate (Methylsulfonic acid ethyl ester; MSEE).
Derived from site: In situ; Ovary; UBERON=UBERON_0000992.
Cell type: Epithelial cell of ovary; CL=CL_2000064.
Species of origin Cricetulus griseus (Chinese hamster) (Cricetulus barabensis griseus) (NCBI Taxonomy: 10029)
Hierarchy Parent: CVCL_0214 (CHO-K1)
Sex of cell Female
Age at sampling Adult
Category Transformed cell line
